The main goal of the e-Training is to create an environment where training and knowledge exchange can take place at the trainee’s own pace through on-demand and easily accessible courses. The key to these autonomous learning systems is the ability to train groups located in multiple areas on a fully automated basis, reducing the time between learning and application. Such an approach also brings clear economic benefits while keeping trainees up to speed on the latest developments.

Training objectives

  • Empower end user community capacities particularly at scientific and management level in order to facilitate the usage of iMarine data e-infrastructure, Virtual Research EnvironmentA ''system'' with the following distinguishing features: ''(i)'' it is a Web-based working environment; ''(ii)'' it is tailored to serve the needs of a Community of Practice; ''(iii)'' it is expected to provide a community of practice with the whole array of commodities needed to accomplish the community’s goal(s); ''(iv)'' it is open and flexible with respect to the overall service offering and lifetime; and ''(v)'' it promotes fine-grained controlled sharing of both intermediate and final research results by guaranteeing ownership, provenance, and attribution. and services developed (e.g. common interfaces and resource integration, Virtual Research EnvironmentA ''system'' with the following distinguishing features: ''(i)'' it is a Web-based working environment; ''(ii)'' it is tailored to serve the needs of a Community of Practice; ''(iii)'' it is expected to provide a community of practice with the whole array of commodities needed to accomplish the community’s goal(s); ''(iv)'' it is open and flexible with respect to the overall service offering and lifetime; and ''(v)'' it promotes fine-grained controlled sharing of both intermediate and final research results by guaranteeing ownership, provenance, and attribution. Operation and Maintenance, etc.).
  • Enhance the competencies of EA-CoPCommunity of Practice. information managers and specialists by facilitating structured knowledge exchange to assist in formulating policy and technological policy guidelines and best practices with consultation and feedback.
  • Raise awareness of underlying technologies, standards and interoperability based on the real-world needs of the user and wider EA-CoPCommunity of Practice..
  • Streamline educational services, reduce costs and the time between learning and implementation through “anytime, anywhere” training modules.

Potential Trainees

  1. users from identified collaborative projects such as ICES, TunAtlas, etc. - Applications end users? data management specialists?
  2. users from a more general audience who can/should help with the development of training material, and not simply expect to benefit from it - Applications end users? data management specialists?
  3. Students who could contribute to content under the supervision of their professor/tutor - Applications end users? data management specialists?
  4. IT specialist, who may require training on the infrastructure - software developers?
