- (Describe the expected service in maximum 3 sentences) The Sea Fisheries Protection Authority (ISFPA), which is the agency in Ireland with responsibility for Fisheries Control in Irish jurisdictional waters, .
In the last 2 years the electronic logbook project to all Irish vessels has been rolled out. Now that the project is up and running for all vessels the attention and focus is beginning to change towards data analysis.
The question for the internal data management team is how to make more use of the massive volumes of real-time data that is now streaming in from all vessels to ISFPA servers.

This information can be confidential or subject to a work-flow. The consumers of TBTI-VREVirtual Research Environment. information that use a query- or map-interface to extract fact-sheets or topical information.

- Structural allocation of resources; NONE, as this opportunity arose in 2013, in the context of FAO activities.

- How does the proposed action generally support sustainability aspects; By identifying and mobilizing a CoPCommunity of Practice., the use of the D4S infrastructure is promoted. By gaining access to a cost-effective infrastructure and tools, TBTI can achieved sustainable management goals.
- How consistent is it with regulations/strategies; The proposed VREVirtual Research Environment. fits the data strategy of the TBTI initiative.
- Re-usability: TBTI re-uses FCPPS, ICIS, GeoExplorer, and VME-VREVirtual Research Environment. components. The benefits of this are much reduced development costs, and shared maintenance costs. The compatibility with existing TBTI tools is not an issue, as these are in an early stage of development.

- The proposed measures are likely to be effective if they manage to organize the information from the different surveys in a global overview, and manages to update the global overview with new survey information when this becomes available. The VREVirtual Research Environment. will be most effective if it is used in planning and decision making processes. This requires a well designed map interface and the ability to add information from other domains, such as biodiversity and ocean-physical datasets.

The UI Design is expected to be provided through D4S components such as:

The training material
The support is expected to be organized in 3 tiers:
Tier 1 is a TBTI VREVirtual Research Environment. manager trained in the full life-cycle management of a VREVirtual Research Environment.. Duties include user-management, user support, confidentiality and policy compliance, and data integrity. Tier 2 is a D4ScienceAn e-Infrastructure operated by the D4Science.org initiative. This tier can only be activated by the VREVirtual Research Environment. manager, or project management. Tier 3 is the infrastructure manager that is responsible for infrastructure deployment and maintenanc. This tier is activated by tier 2, or project management.
