Approach for the development of "Environmental enrichment" infrastructure service.

One comment, from IOC (Ward Appletans), pointed us to a particular opportunity.

This Bio-Oracle PhD work leverages a DIVA algorithm developed in the frame of the SeaDataNet project. http://modb.oce.ulg.ac.be/mediawiki/index.php/DIVA http://modb.oce.ulg.ac.be/mediawiki/index.php/Diva_installation It also leverages the World Ocean Database, but for Sea Surface measurements only. http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/OC5/WOD09/pr_wod09.html

iMarine is considering implementing DIVA over WOD, in order to provide an Environmental Enrichment service at different depth. This approach, environmental parameters considered at different depth, was especially emphasized during the 3rd iMarine Board meeting, Geospatial cluster session, as a FAO comment to the presentation on the Environmental enrichment services development status.

We agreed during the board's review of iMarine use cases (http://wiki.i-marine.eu/index.php/Use_Cases_for_EA-CoP_Data_Access_and_Sharing_Policies) to start an assessment of the DIVA processor, seen as a candidate for Legacy Application Integration in the WPS-Hadoop framework.
