gLite nodes
gLite nodes are computing and storage nodes running gLite middleware which provides core grid functionality such as file-based storage, distributed computation of applications, etc. The gLite nodes are exploited by gCube services which then provide higher level functionality through the iMarine VREs. All gLite nodes are configured to support the d4science.research-infrastructures.eu VO. The gLite nodes running at production level are coordinated by the EGI Project, and the gLite nodes of the D4science Ecosystem are also expected to join the EGI production infrastructure.
The gLite nodes run the different services that compose the gLite middleware. These services are distributed through the different infrastructure sites:

EMI nodes
iMarine continues the participation, started during the D4ScienceAn e-Infrastructure operated by the D4Science.org initiative.-II project, as a Volunteer Site for the EMI 1 Release Preview testbed (https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/EMI/EMIReleasePreview)
The EMI Release Preview activity is an opportunity for community of developers, system administrators and users interested in EMI middleware to preview its software products. This activity involves:
- Volunteer Sites providing hardware resources and administration effort to install and configure products
- Volunteer User Communities providing effort to test the products' functionalities under their specific use case
- EMI Testing Infrastructure and Release experts to coordinate and support volunteers in the deployment and previewing activity
The following EMI services have been installed or are under installation at the CNR Site:

Please note that the FTS and FTA installation are deployed at CERN, because of the need of the Oracle DB installation
As soon as the installation will be stable enough, the EMI services will replace the corresponding gLite services at CNR-PROD-PISA site.
